“The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but significance – and then even the small steps and little victories along your path with take on greater meaning.” – Oprah Winfrey
When the crown and banner were presented to Kendra Berger on Sunday, November 27, 2011 as the girl chosen to be Miss Minnesota Teen USA 2012, this 16 year old from Apple Valley, had just realized her dream. She had taken those small baby steps for the past six years as a pageant contestant and two time state titleholder in another large pageant system.
Every year Kendra and her mom would watch the Miss Teen USA Pageant on TV or on the internet together. One year she told her mom, “I’m going to be in that pageant some day.” Now that day is going to happen. As a result of her pageant experiences she has developed important life skills that have helped her reach many goals in life. She has also established life long friendships that she cherishes every day.
As a resident of Apple Valley and a junior at Eastview High School, Kendra has been active in her community as a church school teacher for preschool children and supporter of the “Race for Grace” walk/run every year in honor of her friend Grace. She keeps very busy as a member of the Eastview Lightning Dance Team, LINC Leader at her high school, working part time and working as a print and runway model.
In Kendra’s free time she loves to spend time with her friends and family. She enjoys helping “style” her friends in the most recent fashions by shopping with them or just borrowing her clothes to them for an important event.
Kendra is honored to represent the great state of Minnesota in the Miss Teen USA 2012 pageant. She is excited to serve as a positive role model to young girls across the state and all over the United States.
